An immersive new shopping experience combining the interactivity of digital live streaming with the convenience of e-commerce has been announced today by NZ Herald in partnership with The Warehouse Group, taking online shopping to a whole new level.
The new channel aptly named The Selection Live Shopping will host live shopping events every Tuesday at 12:30pm on nzherald.co.nz, showcasing a variety of products through engaging demonstrations and discussion. Each event will be hosted by award-winning radio host, Mike Puru, and will drive viewers to make purchases on the featured client’s e-commerce site.
NZME Chief Digital & Publishing Officer, Carolyn Luey, says NZME is thrilled to be the first media company in the country to test out live shopping, adding further value for NZ Herald readers and NZME clients.
“We’re always in tune with the latest digital trends and innovations at NZME, and we’re seeing across the globe a rise in retailers designing innovative and virtual shopping solutions for their customers. The Selection Live Shopping is built off this idea and we’ll be testing a series of captivating and dynamic live events to help NZ Herald readers to find their next favourite purchase.”
“The Selection Live Shopping is perfect for those who prefer the convenience of shopping online, however, miss the informative chat that an in-store salesperson provides. This new channel brings these two shopping preferences together, with live discussion outlining the features of products, along with audience engagement, entertaining audience polls and fantastic giveaways,” says Luey.
The Warehouse Group has come on board as launch partner through Omnicom Media Group, having committed to four episodes across the next two months. The launch episode will feature a number of cozy winter essentials from The Warehouse, delivering a modern, innovative new shopping experience for customers.
“The NZ Herald’s new live shopping channel presents a unique opportunity for us to engage with Kiwis on a whole new level. We’re really looking forward to showing off our incredible range of quality products at incredible prices in an interactive way,” says Jonathan Waecker, Chief Customer Officer, The Warehouse Group.
Nigel Douglas, CEO OMD New Zealand, says “We are always striving for ‘firsties’ and ways to break new ground, so this new Live Shopping format is the perfect way to bring our vision to life.”
Host Mike Puru says: “Having heard how popular and successful live shopping has been internationally, I’m excited to be hosting this unique new experience for NZ Herald’s audience. I love discovering new products, and I’m committed to making these weekly online shopping events a highly anticipated, fun and engaging experience for Kiwis across the country!”
The first live shopping event will take place on Tuesday 9 May at 12:30pm at nzherald.co.nz/liveshopping
