New Zealand Media and Entertainment (NZME) is pleased to announce its partnership with Tussock Country, New Zealand’s premier country music event, as it returns to Gore in 2026.

This partnership marks NZME’s third collaboration with the festival, building on the success of previous events in 2023 and 2024. For 2026, NZME’s newest audio brand – iHeartCountry NZ will lead the partnership, bringing the nation’s country music community together.
Taking place over ten days in May in Eastern Southland, Tussock Country brings together the rural community and country music fans from across New Zealand for more than 80 events celebrating music, food, rural life, entertainment and camaraderie - offering perfect alignment with iHeartCountry NZ’s dedicated country music playlist.
Jason Winstanley, NZME Chief Audio Officer says: “Country music is experiencing a surge in popularity both globally and here in New Zealand, and NZME was proud to launch our very own dedicated country music station earlier this year to meet that growing audience demand. Tussock Country is the perfect platform for iHeartCountry - we’re thrilled to be partnering with an event that celebrates everything we love about country music and rural New Zealand.”
Janine Tindall-Morice, NZME Regional Head - Southern Commercial, says: “NZME is focused on growing our presence and offering in the South Island and we’re delighted to be partnering for a third time with Tussock Country. The festival embodies the heart and soul of rural New Zealand and by bringing iHeartCountry NZ on board, we're not only supporting a world-class event in our own backyard but we’re also strengthening our connection with our communities, audiences and advertising partners.”
Annabel Roy, from Tussock Country Music Festival says: “Tussock Country supports dozens of community groups, hundreds of artists and entertains thousands of patrons every year. Partnering with a dedicated country music station amplifies what the festival stands for and helps us share that energy with even more fans.”
The festival runs from 22 to 31 May 2026 and will incorporate long-running highlights including the MLT NZ Gold Guitar Awards, Country Music Honours and the Freeze Ya Bits Off Busking competition. For event and ticket information, visit TussockCountry.nz
