New Zealand Media and Entertainment (NZME) today announced Herald NOW is set to expand with a dedicated business show in the new year, reflecting strong audience demand and the platform's rapid growth since its launch in May 2025.
The new half-hour business programme, Herald NOW Business, will air weekday mornings from 6.30am to 7am, immediately before the two-hour Herald NOW show presented by Ryan Bridge. The presenting partner for the new business show is 2degrees Business.
Herald NOW Business will be hosted by Garth Bray, former television broadcaster and current investigative reporter for BusinessDesk who regularly appears on Herald NOW to discuss business matters. Bray brings more than 25 years' experience reporting on consumer affairs, business and politics.
Murray Kirkness, NZ Herald Editor-in-Chief, says: “NZME is proud of the success of Herald NOW - delivering news and current affairs to audiences whenever they want it, wherever they are. The addition of a dedicated business programme shows we're building on the platform's success, expanding our offering to meet the evolving ways New Zealanders consume news in 2025. I am proud of the depth of talent in business journalism here at NZME – it’s unrivalled in New Zealand, and I’m looking forward to us further showcasing that through Herald NOW Business.”
Sarah Bristow, NZME Managing Editor - Multimedia Content, says: "Since launching Herald NOW in May, we've seen incredible audience engagement, and the demand for business content has been particularly strong. Garth's expertise and engaging presentation style, which our viewers already know from his regular appearances, make him the perfect host to deliver the business news and analysis Kiwis need to start their day."
Garth Bray says: "I can’t wait to get stuck in hosting Herald NOW Business. New Zealanders like what they’re seeing on Herald NOW – it’s snappy, smart and engaging. In 2026, we’ll be getting their workdays off to an even better start and introducing them to businesses they need to know about, and the people driving them.”
Experienced media leader Erica Lloyd will also come on board in 2026 as the show’s Executive Producer for launch. With decades of experience across business media, innovation and technology, she has delivered impact in senior roles at TVNZ, MediaWorks, BNZ, Datacom, Callaghan Innovation, Soul Machines and Zenno Astronautics.
Erica Lloyd says: “Now more than ever, New Zealand’s productivity depends on accurate, real-time business data and clear-eyed commentary from those building and leading companies. I’m delighted to step in and establish this critical new NZME property in service of the wider economy.”
The new business show will be available via the NZ Herald homepage on desktop and mobile, as well as BusinessDesk, streaming live from NZME's purpose-built studio facilities at NZME Auckland Central. Full editions will also be available on the NZ Herald's YouTube channel.
