New Zealand Media and Entertainment (NZME) has today announced Kiwi comedian and media producer
Bec Sandys will join Radio Hauraki as the station’s new daytime host.
Sandys is no stranger to Radio Hauraki listeners, with stints on the station over summer and regular weekend
appearances. She’s also a familiar voice to sports fans through her cricket commentary on The Alternative
Commentary Collective (The ACC).
Bringing a background that spans comedy, events production, and other creative media projects, Sandys is
known for her quick wit, energy and ability to connect with audiences. She also has strong ties to Canterbury,
bringing a valuable South Island connection to Hauraki’s listener base.
Todd Campbell, Radio Hauraki Content Director says: "Bec embodies everything Hauraki stands for – she's
down to earth, sometimes irreverent and never takes herself too seriously. Her sense of humour and passion
for great music make her the perfect fit for Hauraki – we’re sure our loyal listeners will love to hear she’s
coming on board."
Sandys says she’s excited to officially join the station: "I'm stoked to be joining the Radio Hauraki whānau
fulltime. I’ve been a listener for more than two decades, so stepping into the role of day announcer really is
a dream come true. This station has a strong legacy and I can't wait to bring my own energy to the mix and
connect with listeners right across New Zealand."
Sandys will initially host from Christchurch, extending Hauraki’s presence in the South Island before
relocating to Auckland later this year.
