DPM FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about Digital Performance Marketing
When should my client use Programmatic?
Programmatic allows you to reach your audience on a curated list of thousands of websites and apps beyond Google Network, as well as smart TV. Ads can be video, display or native.
Programmatic also gives you much more powerful targeting options, with the capability to target users down to post codes in New Zealand.
What is the difference between Programmatic and Google Display?
Google Display is limited to the Google Display Network. Programmatic ads allow you to reach websites that are not part of the Google Display Network, broadening the reach of your ads.
What is a pixel and why does it have to be on my client's website?
The programmatic pixel is a small piece of code that is added to your website to allow you to track actions taken on your website. This will allow us to measure conversions on your website (for example, form submissions, clicks on phone numbers, clicks on email addresses etc.) and to create retargeting campaigns and lookalike audiences to target people who are similar to your existing users.
What is a lookalike audience?
A lookalike audience is a group of people who are similar to existing users of your website or part of your website. It is based on identifying attributes of your current users such as their age, gender, device type, browsing behaviour on other websites etc.
What are the options for programmatic TV ad lengths?
30 seconds is standard.
Where do programmatic TV ads show? Can we target specific shows for programmatic TV ads?
Ads can show on TVNZ, ThreeNow, Samsung TV and Neon CTV ad placements. We cannot target by show, but we can target by audience interest, demographics and location.
Can programmatic ads be animated? Can we run programmatic GIF ads? Can we run programmatic HTML5 ads?
Programmatic Display ads can be animated GIFs. Running HTML5 is not standard and we would need to put in a request to run these, we would therefore recommend using static images or GIFs rather than HTML5.
