Beyond passionate when it comes to sport? Know all the calls and plays before they’re made? Know what it takes to produce cutting edge sports journalism? And ready to oversee the creation and production of sport pages in all print editions of The New Zealand Herald?

To be considered for the role you’ll need to have demonstrated experience in a newsroom leadership role with at least five years’ experience in a senior editing role and a sound understanding of the processes required to produce a daily newspaper. You’ll need a deep understanding of audience and how to use research and insight analytics to continually refine and produce targeted content.

And if successful you’ll find yourself entrenched in the likes of daily story conferences to assess content and advertised material for the next days’ editions, create compelling & attractive pages and story placements and ensure efficient page flow to meet deadlines. You’ll work to increase print circulation, engage audiences and increase readership.

In return we offer a culture second to none, an opportunity to work alongside the best in the business in an environment that fosters reward & recognition and growth & development. We tell it like it is, challenge the status quo, dare to try and want some fun along the way. And we’re based in purpose built state of the art offices in central Auckland.
