Are you a software developer with a deep curiosity for learning and a passion for storytelling?  Can you work across computer science statistics and data visualization? And with all this have you got journalism experience ideally in a newsroom? If you’re answering yes so far you could be the needle in the haystack that we’re searching for.

The end goal in this role is engaging and developing audiences, so understanding the complexities of communicating to general audiences is key. You’ll analyse newsworthy data sets and produce visualisations developed to engage our audiences. You’ll use computer-assisted techniques to identify, develop and tell compelling stories, develop bespoke digital news presentations and help champion data as a key tool for storytelling.

To do all of this it’s likely you’re experienced in front-end development, with knowledge of Javascript, JS frameworks. And it should go without saying that you’re all about results delivery: able to set and consistently deliver on performance goals. You’re a multitasker, a stickler with deadlines and always ready to roll up your sleeves and muck in.

In return NZME offer an environment where we celebrate diversity, encourage development & growth and promote succession and recognition. We’re housed in world class facilities in central Auckland and if you tick all the boxes so far or are most of the way there, we’re keen to hear from you!
