As storytellers, our reporters have great instincts for what grabs attention, for what is important, unique and interesting – and how to break and tell those stories in traditional as well as in new and innovative ways across multi-media formats.

Court Reporters find and cover court stories and produce high-quality journalism and content that helps make NZME the leading source of court-based news. To be successful in this role you’ll need to have an exceptional grasp of media law & experience in reporting on the justice system, and the ability to provide fast, accurate multimedia coverage for all our channels direct from the courthouse. You’ll also need skills in creating compelling backgrounders and finding the story behind the story.

Added to the above you’ll have great organisational skills and be familiar with running effective diary and planning systems. A stickler for deadlines, you’ll display excellent judgement & decision making prowess and be polished in your communications and leadership style.  Applicants must have a recognised journalism qualification and have worked in the industry within the past three years.

In return we offer a rare opportunity to work with the best in the business as part of an award winning team in a world-class newsroom in central Auckland. Here, you’ll be encouraged to bring your whole-self to work, to tell it like it is, challenge the status quo, give it a go and have some fun!
